Licensure and Certification Disclosures by Program

Several programs at our institution prepare students for careers that require licensure or certification. For example, students who complete our Nursing program cannot practice as a nurse until they obtain a Nursing License from the state in which they want to work. Licensure and certification requirements can vary by profession and between states/territories. If you intend to practice outside of the state of Nebraska after graduation, prospective students should:

  • Review the program's state by-state disclosures to see if our program meets licensure or certification requirements in the state you hope to work in after graduation.
  • Confirm with the program dean if the program qualifies you to take the licensing or certification exam in your desired state of practice.
  • Check directly with the state licensing board for any additional requirements (e.g. exams, background checks, fees, experience, etc.). If you have questions about how to find or contact a particular state board, please connect with the program dean with questions and we would be happy to assist you.

Licensure and certification rules are different in every state and territory. Licensure and certification requirements can change without notice and are set by the licensing jurisdiction. Moving to a new location before or after you graduate may affect your license or certification eligibility. Also, if your plans change regarding the state in which you intend to practice after graduation, you will want to confirm eligibility for licensure in your new intended state.

We are here to help you work through any questions about licensure and certification you may have, or to help connect you with the appropriate state board. Please reach out to the program dean or our Instructional Systems and Compliance Coordinator with questions.
