Admission Requirements

  • Each applicant to the EdD with an emphasis in nursing and health professions education program will be evaluated for admission based on the following criteria:
    • Masters degree with major in nursing, health professions, or related field from a regionally accredited institution and specialty accreditation if applicable
    • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in masters program
    • Current, unencumbered license in nursing or health professions field if required in applicant's state of residence

• October 15 deadline; program starts January
• May 31 deadline; program starts in August

  • Official college transcripts from graduating institutions and transfer credits. For graduates of Bryan College of Health Sciences, your signature on the application form provides consent for the registrar at Bryan College of Health Sciences to forward an official copy of your transcript to the Graduate Studies Office. Electronic transcripts should be sent to:
  • Two professional references;

    one from applicant’s graduate program faculty and one from applicant’s employer/supervisor. Nursing or healthcare strongly recommended. Two employer references may be used by those whose graduation date was more than five years ago

  • Applicants for whom English is a learned language must score 550 paper based/213 computer based or better on the TOEFL English proficiency examination (School code: 6058)
  • Narrative explanation of: How the applicant’s professional goals are consistent with the program purpose statement and program outcomes and potential research topics of interest (Not to exceed three pages)
