Purpose Statement and Goals

The education doctorate (EdD) with emphasis in nursing education develops educators to assume multiple leadership roles in a variety of settings. Graduate proficiencies will include scholarly inquiry and the utilization of innovative decision making based on current evidence to create proactive solutions to contemporary problems. Collaboration and planned partnerships are essential elements in maximizing educator effectiveness. The program provides learning opportunities that challenge students and promote achievement of their own potential.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the EdD with emphasis in nursing education program, graduates will be able to:

  1. Evaluate teaching and assessment strategies at instructional, curricular, and organizational levels
  2. Construct interprofessional teams and partnerships to create educated solutions to contemporary issues in healthcare
  3. Initiate and manage planned change at instructional, curricular, and organizational levels
  4. Integrate legal, ethical, and diversity considerations into practice and policy decisions            
  5. Contribute to the body of knowledge through systematic inquiry and dissemination
  6. Provide leadership for contemporary issues utilizing applicable theories, global perspectives, available evidence, and collaboration with stakeholders
