Important COVID-19 Notice

Everyone recognizes that the Bryan College of Health Sciences will be operating, for the foreseeable future, under unusual circumstances due the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to reducing your risk of catching the COVID-19 virus by establishing policies and procedures that follow local, state and federal requirements and guidelines, as well as those established by Bryan Medical Center to not only address COVID-19, but all communicable diseases. Despite our best efforts, the College cannot guarantee that its staff and students will not contract COVID-19 and each employee and student assumes such risk when participating in any employment, educational or social activity. All employees and students are required to follow established hygiene and other established practices intended to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The College will periodically keep employees and students updated as to the current requirements. Should you show symptoms of COVID-19 or other communicable disease, please contact employee/student health immediately. You should also self-quarantine until you can be evaluated by a healthcare professional. We also encourage employees and students to report any questions and concerns they have related to the College’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Your adherence to established procedures is key to fostering a safe place to work and learn.

Hello Healers,

Happy Monday.  It was a year ago that we made the decision to move classes online as we tried to get a better understanding of the impact Covid 19 would have on our community.  I’m so grateful to you all for the effort you’ve put in to keep yourself and our community safe.  Our numbers continue to trend in the right way.

I also pause and reflect on the toll the pandemic has taken, emotionally and personally, with 2.65 million deaths worldwide.  Even as we continue to think about what ‘re-entry” looks like and feels like, we know we have a lot more healing to do (literally and figuratively).

We are in the process of planning for fall classes and so I wanted to share this update with you from Dr. Anderson, provost:

As we approach the end of the spring semester, you might be wondering what fall will look like in terms of COVID measures. We have had such a successful spring semester; at the time of writing this note, our 7 day average for cases among students and staff is ZERO! We were able to vaccinate 212 students at our clinics, with many more students being vaccinated elsewhere.  We are so blessed to be part of a medical center that provided us with that protective measure for our students and staff!

In the last few weeks, we’ve been able to resume student organization events on campus, such a positive sign that all our efforts continue to pay off.  We are so lucky to live in an age of modern science and rapid vaccine development!   At this time, the COVID vaccine is not required within Bryan Health but we are seeing increased clinical sites requiring that immunization.

For fall semester, we are so hopeful that we’ll be able to return to a normal class schedule. As of right now, we still have fall planned with COVID measures in place.  We will decide and communicate on July 15 if we switch that format up in any way.  We aren’t sure about masking or temperature screening guidelines for the future as Bryan Medical Center will make those decisions for us. Please remember that things with the pandemic are in constant flux and may change even between July 15 and the start of fall semester

Continue to be safe and well.  Continue your work as Healers, on-and-off campus.
